Edit Password policy

Hello,

This question is about exchange 2010 SP3. Sorry I couldn't put it in a forum under that section but there isn't one!

I'm reviewing the password policy on the domain and I want to force users to change passwords every so many days. The problem is that I have some remote users who only connect via a VPN or just use Outlook over proxy for access to email - they have no workstation. So when the password change becomes due they have nowhere to apply that change.

I can tell them to login to OWA but this has no password change option either and I can find no information on how to get OWA to ask for a password change at login in the same way as a workstation. I understand it is possible or if it isn't then it is possible to put a password change option on the OWA login which would accomplish the same thing.

Can anyone help me with this?

Thanks

Hi,

By default, Exchange 2010 OWA password change option is disabled. You need to enable it through the following steps:

1.Log into your Exchange CAS server.
2. Open registry editor
3.Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\MSExchange OWA
3.Create the DWORD key ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled
4.Set ChangeExpiredPasswordEnabled to 1
5.Reboot the CAS server.

Test it by try to login to OWA for an expired password account. On the login screen itself, you can see the change password option

Thanks, I actually found this and tried it but didn't restart the server, will try a little harder this time and hopefully all will be well - if not I'll come back and report.

Much appreciated

Yes that worked after a restart, - after logging in with old credentials user required to input domain\Username oldpassword newpassword twice and must conform to the Policy as laid down in AD. I would love to customize this page to put password policy requirements on there ie min 6 chars upper and lower case at least 1 number, cannot reuse the last x passwords etc.

If anyone knows let me have it! BUt meantime thanks Manu PhiliP

Great to hear that, the solution worked perfectly ! OWA customization part, I have seen many references at the internet. Refer the one here : http://windowsitpro.com/exchange-server-2010/customizing-owa-exchange-server-2010
