Edge Server Authentication
Hi, I need to publish POP3 to users from Internet. I open firewall to permit users connect to CA and validate OK. I want users from Internet uses Edge Server connector to sendmails from itsmail clientauthenticating with its users of Active Directory. I have modified Default internal receive connector Group Permissions including Exchange Users. Also I modify authentication to include Basic Authentications and Windows Integrated Authentication. Despite users cannot validate nor send mail. My doubt is if is possible to validate in an Edge Server receive connector with AD users. I prefer to not publish my Hub Transport Server to users from Internet. Thanks. R@ul

I asked a few fellow MVPs and the answer was that it is not possible to have the Edge Transport server do the authentication. You should open up the Client Receive connector on one of your Hub Transport servers (TCP port 587, not port 25) and have the POP3 users configure to use that server instead.

I already suspected it, but I wanted to confirm it. Thanks. R@ul
