Echange 2010 external mail contact

Hi,

I have created an external mail contact in my Exchange 2010.

For example, the external mail contact email id is: tomjo@gmail.com with a display name 'Tom Joseph Gmail'

But when my users see it in the local GAL they view it as 867afd3d5325449d875c8e905c50bb33@localdomain.com

Kindly suggest why it shows the external email address in junk characters..

(display name is showing correctly)

thanks and regards,

Anthony Mathews

What's your e-mail address policy that's being applied to this recipient?

Hi ANTONYMA,

Thank you for your question.

For testing, we could create a new mail contact to check if the issue persist. If the issue occur on the new account, we could follow Eds suggestion to check if there are any email policy to apply. You could post the result by the following command for our troubleshooting:

Get-Mailbox tomjo000@localdomain.local | FL

If the issue only occur on this specific user, we could refer to the following steps to repair it:

  1.        Open EMC, navigate to Recipient Configuration->Mail Contact->User account->Email Addresses->External Email Address, change it into tomjo@gmail.com
  2.        If the steps has done and the issue persist, we could open ADsiedit.msc, then navigate to Default naming context->user account->properties, then change the value of SMTP into tomjo@gmal.com
  3.        Then we could wait 48 hours to check if the issue persist

If there are any questions regarding this issue, please be free to let me know.

Best Regard,

Jim
