EXMERGE import of new format PST files
With Outlook 2007 it is not possible to save PST files in the earlier format EXMERGE requires to import. Is the any plan to update EXMERGE for Exchange 2007 and support the Outlook 2007 format? Is there any other way to save a PST file from Outlook 2007 so EXMERGE can import it? Is there any chance Microsoft can CLEARLY document this incompatibility between their own products so I don't waste hours of my time only to find the answer I needed on a 3rd party blog?

Outlook 2007 can create PST files in both formats: unicode - supports PSTs greater than 2GB and is compatible with Outlook 2003 and Outlook 2007. ANSI -supports PSTs to a maximum size of 2GB and is compatible with all versions of Outlook. This information is available here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/830336 Exmerge supports only ANSI. In order to import a PST file created by Outlook 2003 or Outlook 2007 using Exmerge, you must select the correct PST format. You can select this format (ANSI) by selecting the "Outlook 97-2002 Personal Folders File (.PST)" option when you create a new PST file using the File -> New -> Outlook Data File option. Exchange 2007 no longer supports Exmerge. However, in Exchange 2007 SP1, the Export-Mailbox and Import-Mailbox cmdlets will enable you to import and export mailboxes from and to PSTs. These cmdlets will support the unicode format which means support for PSTs greater than 2GB. For more information, see http://msexchangeteam.com/archive/2007/04/13/437745.aspx David.
