EXCH 2013 - change default receive connectors properties

Hello,

My fresh installed Exchange 2013 couldn't send mails through SMTP clients. They cannot authorize.

What permissions could I set to enable receive connectors to sent mails from smtp clients (IMAP, POP3) like thunderbird, Windows live mail?

thank you for help

Hi Alda

Are you trying to set up relay permission for your application to send emails through exchange ?

If that's the case you would need to create a dedicated connector for the same and grant relay permission(anonymous/authenticated) according to the app set up

Also confirm what protocol the app is using either IMAP or POP3

For setting up relay please refer -

Hi aldbarda,

try this configuration for Thunderbird.

Default Exchange use only SSL/TLS connections

POP3:
Server:mail.server.tld
Port:955
User name:User
Connection:SSL/TLS
Authentication:Password, normal
SMTP:
Server:mail.server.tld
Port:587
Connection:STARTTLS
Authentication:Password, normal
User name:User

IMAP:
Server:mail.server.tld
Port:993
User name:User
Connection:SSL/TLS
Authentication:Password, normal
SMTP:
Server:mail.server.tld
Port:587
Connection:STARTTLS
Authentication:Password, normal
User name:User

Best regards

Thank you,

my thunderbird is sending through port 587, STARTTLS. But Windows live not. Why?

There is no way to change Windows live mail to STARTTLS
