EXCHANGE SERVER 2007 FAILING TO CONNECT BECAUSE THE FIRST 2003 SERVER DOMAIN CONTROLLER IS DEAD

DEAR ALL,

IAM HAVING A PROBLEM IN MY NETWORK WITH EXCHANGE SERVER 2007

THE DOMAIN HAD SERVER 2003 DOMAIN CONTROLLERS, I THEN INTRODUCED SERVER 2008 R2, I MOVED ALL THE FSMO ROLES FROM THE SERVER 2003 DOMAIN CONTROLLER TO SERVER 2008 R2 AND WAS SUCCESSFUL. BUT NOW ONE OF THE 2003 DOMAIN CONTROLLER IS DEAD,EXCHANGE SERVER IS FAILING TO CONNECT ITS LIKE IT WAS STILL DEPENDING ON THE DEAD 2003 DOMAIN CONTROLLER DESPITE NOT HAVING THE FSMO ROLES AND ALL THE SERVER 2008 R2 IS ALSO A GC.

HOW CAN I MAKE EXCHANGE SERVER LOOK FOR ALL THE RESOURCES AT THIS SERVER 2008 R2 BEING THE ONE CONTROLLING THE DOMAIN?

YOUR USUAL ASSISTANCE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

REGARDS

MICHAEL

Hi Michael,

Thank you for your question.

Run the following command in CMD on Exchange server to check if the Exchange server connect to Window server 2008R2:

Set  L

If the Exchange server connect to Window server 2003, we could close EMC and EMC, restart the service of Microsoft Exchange Active Directory Topology, then open EMC to check if the issue persist.

We could refer to the following link:

Hi ,

you can make your exchange servers to use the static domain controllers untill you remove the failed domain controller in active directory.

Reference Link :

As an additional info You can make use of ntdsutil to remove the failed domain controller in active directory.
