EXCHANGE 2010 MAILBOX ICONS IN EMC
Hi all, does anyone know how to identify the mailbox codes / colours / graphics next to a user mailbox in exchange 2010? Is there an article or guide? i cannot seem to find anything. I have a couple of users in exchange who have a different icon next to the mailbox in exchange. Not sure how to explain the differences in appearance ;) thanks in advance

Hi I'm sure there is a guide somewhere but I can help you with these 4, from top to bottom: Remote Mailbox (moved to another forest), User Mailbox (Exchange 2010), Legacy Mailbox (from earlier editions), Mail User. Steve

The green arrow indicates that it is either being moved or has a completed move request that has not been cleared. If you have a look in Recipient Configuration -> Move Request you should see the user there. Right click -> Clear Move Request to remove.

thank you very much, so a normal user should not have the green arrow?

is it safe to clear move request? according to EMC the move request completed but why is it still in as a move request/ should it not just clear itself? it seems pointless to hang around when it has already been completed?

Move requests don't clear automatically so that you have a record and it is easy to re-run moves if needed. They are more helpful with large scale migrations but at any rate you do need to clear them down after a mailbox is moved, however the only thing that this would impact is the ability to move the mailbox again. If you are having issues with these mailboxes then something else is the cause.

Hi there That is correct that the moves do not clear automatically as this is the way that the Mailbox Replication Service (MRS) functions. Additional attributes are written to the mailbox account in AD and it is those attributes that need to be cleared afterwards. The attributes state where the mailbox is moving to, batch information etc. Note that the move history is retained within the mailbox itself and this history is preserved even if you clear the move request. You can retrieve using Get-MailboxStatistics cmdlet. For example $temp=Get-MailboxStatistics -Identity AylaKol -IncludeMoveReport $temp.MoveHistory[0] | Export-CSV C:\MoveReport_AylaKol.csv This can be changed in the MSExchangeMailboxReplication.exe.config file MaxMoveHistoryLength This property specifies the maximum number of move histories to maintain in the mailbox. You can specify a value from 0 through 100. The default value is 2 move histories per mailboxCheers, Rhoderick NOTICE: My posts are provided AS IS without warranty of any kind, either expressed or implied, including but not limited to the implied warranties of merchantability and/or fitness for a particular purpose.

Does anybody know what this icon signifies on a mailbox please? This is (or was) a regular 2010 mailbox. Then I ran: set-mailbox -id abc@xyz.com -DeliverToMailboxAndForward $false -ForwardingSmtpAddress hhh@gmail.com (which correctly forwarded all email to hhh@gmai.com) I subsequently ran set-mailbox -id abc@xyz.com -ForwardingSmtpAddress $null (and mail now correctly delivers into the mailbox and does not forward) But the mailbox still has the weird icon. Recipient Type Details = user Mailbox. Thanks!
