EXCH2003: displayName attribute and Global Address List sort order
Folks,
My company uses "Smith, John" sort order in GAL (default) with the same displayName attribute. I want to change the displayName attribute that way, each message shows "John Smith" at the recipient's mailbox.
At the same time I want to keep the current sort order (by last name) in GAL.
Any suggestions? Is there any direct dependency between displayName attribute and sort order in GAL?
Thanks
Seva

I'm afraid that you won't be able to have it both ways.

Hi,
For the GAL, it filters the user based on the value of the mailNickname attribute which is retrieved from the Display Name. If the Display Name is empty, it will take the Alias and put it as Display Name.
For the name that is displayed in the message, it's the Display Name. That indicates all them are related to the Display Name. In other words, it's not feasible for your need.
Thanks
