EX07 Setup Error: The Exchange Server is in an inconsistent state. Only disaster recovery mode is a available
Hi All, Beginner in Exchange Server. (Exchange Server 2007 Std Sp1 running in Server 2003 x64 SP2) Due to receive connector error & corrupt database i had to reinstate the above configuration, uninstalling wasn't successful. Now, I Re-installed Server 2003 x64 SP2 Successfully but when i started the setup to re-install Exchange Server 2007, it gives the below error, The Exchange Server is in an inconsistent state. Only disaster recovery mode is a available I have another server running has DC & DNS. Do i need to change the name of the exchange server?? or ADSI Edit.. please advice with a step by step process.. Thanks azmath

It's probably best to delete the Exchange server out of the directory using ADSIedit then run setup.com /preparead again before doing the install.

Remove the server from this location in ADSIedit - items in Italics will be unique to your system: CN=Configuration, DC=DomainName,DC=com CN=Services CN=Microsoft Exchange CN=OrganizationName CN=Administrative Groups CN=AdministrativeGroupName CN=Servers Click on the server name then delete. For your info this method is not officially supported and should be considered a last restort if the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927464 are not successful.

Hi, You should definetly not remove the server using ADSI Edit!! That is not supported and should only be used as a last resort if really really really necessary. What you should do is to recover the server using the /recoverserver switch as the message told you. Her's a good How-To: Recovering an Exchange 2007 Server using the RecoverServer switch http://www.msexchange.org/tutorials/Recovering-Exchange-2007-Server-recoverserver-switch.html Martina Miskovic

You will need to log on as the local administrator account and add it to the domain again.

Hi azmath May be you can have a look on the thread http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/exchangesvrdeploy/thread/2fd295db-f84e-4c7b-a1cb-03fa0433d95f The solution is to help you to check the value on otherWellKnownObjects for CN=Microsoft Exchange,CN=Services,CN=Configuration, DC=xxx,DC=com, and it is for EX07 Cheers Zi Feng

Hi All, Thank you so much for your support, Firstly i changed my Server name, from SLMEX01 to SLMEX02 For the above Error occurred in (Your DVD Drive Letter) Setup /PrepareAD, Please find the below solution, Download & Run ADRestore.exe Command Prompt> Adrestore It will display all the deleted AD objects, in that your can find the error object. CMD> ADrestore - r This ask you to restore the object one by one, restore the deleted object and then Run Setup /PrepareAD The setup has completed and finally installed exchange server 2007. Thank youazmath
