EWS Authentication Issue - Need Some Help

Hello,

We are migrating from on premise Exchange 2010 to Office 365 (exchange online) and the platform that we are using to do the migration basically connects to the mailboxes and makes a copy of email so that we don't have any downtime.

In order to connect, the software uses the EWS login which is something like https://domain/ews/exchange.asmx

We can connect and we get a login box but when we enter any user's credentials, it will just go to a blank page and thus the software cannot do anything either.

Anyone have any clues as to what could be happening with this authentication and where to look???

Hi,

See if  IIS is installed with basic authentication and Windows authentication

Hi,

I will check.  If IIS is installed with basic and Windows, is that the correct way to have it authenticate for EWS? If it does not have basic Windows, would I need to enable it?

Please enable the basic and windows auth and check this again

I enabled basic and Windows and I think that fixed the issue.  I will connect with the software again and verify! Thank you again.

Hi ManU PhiliP,

I enabled the basic and windows authentication as you suggested, however, the software trying to login to EWS as the email user is now getting a 401 or 404 error page so it seems there is still something not letting us access the actual mailbox and folders using EWS.  Anything else I can check???

Hi,

Would you please post more details about your migration plan, it more helpful for further troubleshooting.
Heres a blog about Make a Smooth Move to the Cloud: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/magazine/gg675925.aspx

For your question, please try to enable MRS Proxy endpoint on EWS virtual directory for testing. For your reference:
