EDB convert to PST file issue

Hi,

I know that there is no freeware tools to convert EDB file to PST file, but I just need to convert only one email account and I don't want to purchase a tool for just one time for one email account only, is it possible to setup an Exchange Server and load the previous EDB file? Thanks.

The previous EDB file from Exchange Server 2010.

You can export .edb file to pst using exmerge and recovery sttorage group as well.
For more detail please visit following articles

If it is only for one mailbox, There are sites which provide online recovery/service for few bucks. You can search in Google for that.

Depends. Does the AD forest the server was in originally still exist? Or can you create an AD forest and name the Exchange org the same as the original?

Assuming the edb is in a clean shutdown state, you can use database portability.

You can name the server anything, install Exchange 2010 as the same level as the original, create a database in 2010 EMC, but don't mount it. Drop the .edb in there and then see if you can mount it.

Follow the steps here:

http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd876926(v=exchg.141).aspx

Move a Mailbox Database Using Database Portability

If that works, see if you disconnect the mailbox using powershell and then reconnect to a dummy AD account and then open the mailbox with Outlook or OWA.

Alternatively, using that same 2010 server that you just built ( assuming no others exist), use a recovery database and see if you can access it that way.

Note that if this is a "greenfield" Exchange 2013 org ( And not an upgrade from 2010), you will not be able to install a 2010 server into the org. You would need to build a new 2010 org in test.
