E-mail forwarding not turned off prior to deleting mailbox and user
User Joe leaves a company and is replaced by User Jane. For the time being, User Joe's email is automatically forwarded to User Jane under the Exchange General Tab. Once a smooth transition is complete, User Joe's account and mailbox are deleted. However, before deleting User Joe's account, the forward-to-User Jane option is not turned OFF. Three months later, User Jane calls saying she is still receiving mail addressed to user Joe.How can this be and if so, where and how do I turn it OFF?Please note I am assuming this is what happened. Are there other scenarios where this might play out as described (Jane receiving email addressed to Joe, who is no longer in Active Directory and Exchange mailbox removed)?Thank you!

in addition to smtp address take LDP dump of user Jane and check if there is anything unusual. See below how to dump the object
