Duplication of mail on Window server 2007

Hello All,

I have been facing this two scenarios in my workplace and ask for your expertise to solve them

1. Whenever my boss searches for an old mail on his blackberry, He receives the mail again as a duplicate showing to have been received few minutes from the time of search.

2. Whenever a user logs on to another client PC within our network and access their mails there other than the PC they normally use, the mails are duplicated on their normal PC,s

Have tried these ways to solve this but the problem is still persisting;

1. changing the spamming configurations on the antivirus/antispyware,

2. Keeping the spam-ware updated and integrated to the outlook application

Kindly help this is getting me frustrated!

Thanks,

Edwin

Hi Edwin,

is problem the same if they use both OWA and Outlook?Do you use any Third part Application?Does Your Exchange servers have two IPs?

If so,please only have one of the NICs registered to DNS only.Cause this could case a loop.

Thanks for the reply, i had looked at that blog earlier,

The problem still persists, as the second scenario described, a user logging in to a different PC, then getting duplicates on their PC's on their normal desk.

Hi Edwin,

According to your description, I understand that some account always receive the duplicate messages.
If I misunderstand you concern, please do not hesitate to let me know.

I want to double confirm some points, please help to collect the answers for following questions:
1. Are all account or some special users experience this question?
2. Ensure whether they have configured an additional email account in other Outlook client to through POP/SMTP.
3. Ensure whether there is some duplicate rules in their mailbox?
Please try to run MFCMapi.exe to check whether theres some hide rules, for your reference:

Thank you Allen_WangJF for your reply,

1. Yes, all the account are experiencing this duplication issue.

2. The account configured are the office mail accounts only and no other accounts.

3. There are no rules specified on the email account.

Does MFCMapi.exe work on outlook 2007, since the procedure indicates its on 2003.

All the client PC are using outlook 2007,

Exchange 2007 and window server 2008.

Thanks

Hi ,

In addition to all the above suggestions ,Based on my knowledge i have also given some suggestions please have a look in to it.

1.To analyze this problem , first we need to do a message tracking for anyone of the duplicated message to find out where the message has been originated or else we can review the message id's on the headers of the duplicate messages to find out it is having an duplicated message ID (i.e same message id for both the messages). But in some cases it might be triggered twice from the source .At the Same time in exchange by default duplicate detection is enabled and it will drop the duplicate messages copies with same message id's and finally it will deliver only the single copy of the message to the user.

Example : Just think a user called nithya is sending an message to himself by marking an copy on the CC field and also to an distribution group mentioned on the To field .On such case just assume that distribution group that contains some members along with that user nithya is also an member of that DL.

For the above scenario nithya will be getting only one copy of an message even though there would be an chance for the user nithya to receive two copies of the message.

2.Does this issue is happening for the emails which is coming from the external world or else for both internal and external messages ?

3.Does all the account which is experiencing this issue belongs to the same database else users was placed across different data
