Duplicate emails
I tried asking this before, but maybe how I asked it was confusing. We have a user who has one mailbox, and the messages from that mailbox are not left on the mailbox but are forwarded to an outside email address using a contact inside Exchange 2010. So the mail comes in to the mailbox, and then is forwarded using the information in that Contact. For whatever reason, his emails are being duplicated, I turned on verbose logging and it's definitely happening at the server, as he is getting multiple emails at his Comcast account, so it's not an Outlook problem. Any ideas would be helpful. Thank you, Andy

Hi Have you tried to recreate this issue with another user? So he get's duplicated mails on both the exchange mailbox and the external account where it's forwarded to? Are you using any transport rules?Jonas Andersson MCTS: Microsoft Exchange Server 2007/2010 | MCITP: EMA 2007/2010 | MCSE/MCSA Blog: http://www.testlabs.se/blog

Thank you for all your help. It turns out that, even though we had other users with the exact same setup, this was the only user having issues. And, oddly enough, we switched him to using a Contact that was a gmail account and the problem went away, so we forwarded it to that address and then from there forwarded it to his Comcast account (I know this is roundabout) and everything worked fine. Very strange...

Dear Clarke, Did you confirm the symptom appear to the single user or multiple user? Firstly, please try to use OWA and make sure the problem doesn’t cause by the client. The duplicate email might be caused by email stuck in the temp table of exchange store, you can use MFCMAPI tool to delete the smtp temp table. We did confirm it to be just one user, and it turned out to be something to do with Comcast. Like I posted before, we moved the Contact to a gmail account, and the forwarding worked without a hitch. Thank you for your input. Andy
