Drag and drop from windows explorer to the new message, outlook crashes.
Running Office 2013, windows 8.1.
Case 1: If we drag and drop from windows explorer to the new message window, outlook crashes.
Case 2: For some users - outlook doesn't crash but it gives a message saying "you do not have the correct permission for this" but it's an administrator account on the computer. When we use the attach button on the actual message toolbar, outlook completely crashes. This is happening across multiple computers.
Case 3: Outlook crashed for some users when performing drag and drop from mapped drive while it is working from window explorer.

Hello,

Yes, you can use drag and drop option in Outlook. But it fails in some situations as described by you.

The Solution to it is:

Press ESC Key more than once. Hitting ESC repeatedly can overcome this problem if in case drag & drop suddenly stopped working.

And the Other situation in  which it does not work is that you are not granted the permission to use drag and drop. This usually happens when Outlook runs as an administrator. So it acts as an administrator when Outlook is opened with the enabled compatibility mode.  And to disable this setting, Open Outloo Properties. Move to the Compatibility bar. And disable the option run this program as Administrator

Hi,

You can try Clark's suggestion and hopefully it's helpful.

If the problem persists, we may need to collect the event logs to analyze the cause of the problem.

Press Win + R, type "eventvwr" in the blank box, press Enter.

In the Event Viewer, browse to Windows Logs -> Application, find the related error about the crash issue, we may find useful information to determine the root cause. You can also send the logs to our email address, thus we can help analyze as well:
