Hi I understand that there is some hiccups in domain rename in with a Windows Server 2003 AD and Exchange Server 2007 environment in a 2 different box. There are some suggestions that do not proceed with Domain Rename but instead build a new domain and migrate over. Anyone succeeded doing this with the same setup that I have? Thanks

This is not a ASAP case to just get done Start to telling your boss that it's unsupported and if something goes wrong you are out of support And have a plan for what to do if anything goes wrong To be honest, the nice and clean way is to migrate the users and groups etc with ADMT (or any other tool) to a new domain and then do a cross-forst mailbox migration. But what should I do if I wanted to use back my Server A due to budget issue. Thanks alot guys!

Hi Mykech, You have to use a temp server to migrate. After you migrate users and mailboxes from forest A to Forest B successfully, you can format Server A, add it to Forest B to install Exchange 2007, then move mailboxes from Temp server to it. If there are not many mailboxes in your organization, maybe you can backup mailboxes to pst files, then uninstall the Exchange server, now you can rename the domain. Frank Wang

So this should be my steps 1. Setup a Temp server with a new domain (new.com) 2. Migrate users accounts from old domain that resides in Server A to new domain in Temp Server. 3. Hi mykech, You can install Exchange 2007 on the formatted server A, then remove Exchange 2007 on the temp server.
