Domain Authentication failure
I'm having a problem with some of my servers (about 26 to be exact) where they are on the domain and functioning perfectly but every few weeks, they are no longer able to authenticate against the domain and need to be restarted. When the servers are no longer able to authenticate, all of the shares become unavailable as well. Once the servers arerestarted, everything is fine again.Any ideas on what could be causing this and any solutions would be extremely helpful. I amable to remotedesktop into these systems and log into thelocal machine but not as a domain user. The domain controller is running nt 4 and the operating systems for these servers - 20 of them run 2003, the other 6 are running server 2000.

Have you considered upgrading to your nt4 domain to Active Directory? Most of us are way beyond NT4 at this point since its no longer supported as of Jan1, 2005. I am just asking as I know money, time, resources, etc. can all be factors for notupgrading.

I'm aware that NT is no longer supported hence why i'm posting this on a forum. Deployment of Active Directory 2008 won't be until next year some time. I'm working with what I have.

Then I would start by looking the Event Logs on the Servers. Turn up logging if need be.

Hi Nicholas, Please understand that we mainly discuss Exchange issues in this forum, in order to resolve the issue more efficiently, I suggest you write this issue in Windows Server 2003 newsgroup: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb841405.aspx Thank you for your understanding, Elvis
