Do you need to configure a send connector to send mail to another site - in same organization?
I was under the impression you do need to configure a specific send connector to send to another site (or another forest). True, I only manage a one site organization so I don't have a lot of first hand experience with this. Anyway, I'm preparing an Exchange certification test and the supposedly correct answer to one of the practice questions seems to imply that the implicit send connector would take care of this. Definitely the case in a single site scenario. But in a multiple site scenario? Question is from a Transcender practice test that I won't write out here.

Hi, You will need to create a send connector for each forest. See below links. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb676395.aspx http://blogs.technet.com/b/exchange/archive/2010/08/10/3410619.aspx

Hi, While there are invisible Send connectors which are created by default, these are used for mail delivery within the Exchange 2010 organization. Send connectors can be configured to send email outside your organization. Thanks. Best Regards!

Thanks guys but... I am specifically interested in send connectors for separate sites. So... 1 organization: CONTOSO 1 forest: CONTOSO.COM 1 domain: CONTOSO.COM But... Two separate sites: London and New York for example. MailboxUser1 - working in London - wants to send an email to MailboxUser2 - working in New York. Same organization, same forest, same domain... but... different sites. Can the "invisible" send connectors handle this or... do I need to create - respectively - distinct send connectors for intra-organization (within the same organization) communications?

No need, Exch HUB will route messages via AD sites internally using the "invisible" connectors. I assume you're using Exch 2007/2010.Sukh

As I know, If only in the same OG, you don't need extra send connector.Best Regards!
