Do room mailbox's need a full exchange mailbox licence?
Hello, We are currently half way though a migration from exchange 2003 to 2007, we have a lot of public folders setup including calendars for rooms. Ive been having a look into using room mailbox's but im a bit unsure about the licensing of room mailbox's. I cant seem to find a stright answer, some people say that because the room mailbox is attached to a disabled account it dosent need to be licenced, others say that all mailbox's need a full mailbox licence. Does anyone have the difinitive answer??? Thanks for your help!! Dave J

There are two type of CALs, per-user and per-device. I think it should be like this, if you have per-user licenses then you require a CAL for Room Mailbox but if you have per-device CAL then you can use multiple mailboxes on that device and those don't require additional per-user license. However suggest you to contact licensingspecialist at Microsoft for license related questions...
