Do Exchange Server CALs allow free Outlook install?
I have heard from a co-worker and read (on a non-Microsoft site) that Exchange Server CALs allow the installation of Microsoft Outlook without any additional licensing fees. Is this true? Can someone provide documentation from the Microsoft website that this is true? If true, does this allow the installation of any version of the Outlook client? Thank you, Jason

Hrmm, according to Microsoft http://www.microsoft.com/resources/sam/lic_cal_exchange_server.mspx The Exchange 2003 user CAL is required for each user gaining access to the server and entitles access rights to both editions of Exchange. Each Exchange 2003 CAL also includes Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and permits access from Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access, Outlook Mobile Access, Exchange Server ActiveSync, or any standard Internet-messaging client. Also mentioned on this page: http://www.microsoft.com/uk/windowsserversystem/exchange/how-to-buy.mspx Theres no mention of Exchange 2007 on Microsofts website, however this has been cut from the CAL, and if you purchase an Exchange 2007 CAL, you no longer get an Outlook license with it, meaning you have to purchase the Outlook license seperately, I have confirmed this over the phone with MS licensing. Hope This Helps.
