Distribution group not resolving group name
Hello, When i try to send email on distribution group, it doesnt resolve its name and an NDR is generated. Given below are the contents Advisors The recipient's e-mail address was not found in the recipient's e-mail system. Microsoft Exchange will not try to redeliver this message for you. Please check the e-mail address and try resending this message, or provide the following diagnostic text to your system administrator. Diagnostic information for administrators: Generating server: Mail01.abc.com IMCEAEX-_O=NT5_ou=1a86b507ccd54c43be9ac5277046d7d9_cn=cfdb3afdc901a74faf4492051f28ca84@isb.abc.com #550 5.1.1 RESOLVER.ADR.ExRecipNotFound; not found ## Although the distribution group exists, but when i select GAL it shows it but by default it is ALL USERS and there is not group in ALL USERS. How can i force outlook to automatically pick users from GAL instead of manually changing it from ALL USERS to GAL. Kindly help me. Hasan

This part if the diagnostic information tell you that the legacyExchangeDN value doesn't exist in the AD: ExRecipNotFound >Although the distribution group exists, but when i select GAL it shows it but by default it is ALL USERS and there is not group in ALL USERS. How can i force outlook to automatically pick users from GAL instead of manually changing it from ALL USERS to GAL. I don't think that has anything to do with the problem. The contents of the address lists are just the result of LDAP queries. The result of the query doesn't alter the value of the objects in the AD. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

While download address boook when i select \GAL adn then resolve the group name it works fine. but wen i select \all users and download oab, it never show groups. It has impact because after doing this, when i tried to resolve name it look into the same address list. Also there is setting by going...............Address Book-->tools-->Options--> where i can select order of query. GAL is selected there by default, Can i change it autmatically from server, like if any user doesn't have GAL as default, then how i can push that client to have gal as default.................. Also on server, i can use APPLY option on all address lists but i can't apply GAL.........why is that so?? Hasan

Hi, Do you mean the Distribution Group is resolving successfully after chaning the order of the GAL on the Outlook side? If not, it's failed? If that is true, that should be Outlook Configuration issue. And there is no way to change it from the Exchange Server side. So you should deploy the group policy to change it. Thanks Allen Allen Song Yes Right............it is resolving after selecting GAL but not resolving when ALL USERS is selected, which is default at the moment. How can i make GAL as default in all users? and what GP i should apply to get this working. I will really appreciate ur help. Hasan
