Display name of outbound e-mail from Exchange
We currently are transitioning from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. I noticed that internally when we e-mail each other we can see our display name (e.g John Doe) but if we are to send e-mail to outside our Exchange organization it only displays the e-mail address (e.g doej@domain.com) How can I change it for every user so that it displays their name just as it does internally? I believe this has been an issue even when we were on Exchange 2003. Any help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks, Jesse

Jesse, Does it both happen from Outlook and OWA? Please run the get-mailbox identity mailuser |fl and post the output here. Does the mail environment sends directly to the internet or is there an appliance such as a spam filter in front of it ? Regards, JohanExchange-blog: www.johanveldhuis.nl

Johan, It happens both from Outlook and OWA. I tried running that cmdlet and had an issue. Still working on it to be able to post the output here. Currently right now we are still in coexhistence with our Exchange 2003 server so we have not configured it on our Microsoft Forefront as of yet. Regards, Jesse

Hi, Where did you see the problem? From Sent Items folder or Internet Recipients? Did you check the "Display sender's name on message" option under Remote Domains Tab? Please install Rollup 4 for the Exchange 2007 SP1, then after you apply this hotfix, type the following command in the Exchange Management Shell to enable this feature for all remote domains: Get-remotedomain | set-remotedomain -UseSimpleDisplayName $true Thanks Allen
