Discrepancies ref storage groups and DB's between the EMC and Powershell...
Hello, I have been banging my head against a solid wall for 2 days trying in vain to create a new storage group and public folder database on a new 2007 SP3 SCC mailbox server... Some background info Servers: Server 1 - 2007 SP3 - build 83.6 - Teddington - 2 phycical nodes - 2008 R2 SCC failover cluster Server 2 - 2007 sp1 - build 240.6 - Teddington Server 3 - 2007 sp1 - builld 240.6 - Manchester My aim is to retire server 3 from Manchester but to do so I need to migrate its public folders to the new cluster in Teddington, server 1. I am currently sat in the Manchester office. From EMC on server 3 I created a new Storage group called PFSG on Server 1, in hindsight perhaps not the cleverest idea as I then had to rely on AD replication over the WAN to see this SG on Server 1. This eventually happened and so rdp'd onto Server 1 using the EMC I created my Public Folder database in the new storage group called PFDB. It failed to mount with errors leading me to check that the Exchange servers computer accounts were in the Exchange servers group in AD. One of the physical cluster nodes was not and the virtual exchange cluster resource account was not, I added them both and restarted IS. This made no difference and so speculating that creating the SG from an SP1 server on an SP3 box could have been the cause I decided to delete the DB and SG and start again.... Herein starts my real problems... I was unable to delete the public folder DB as I had been unable to mount it it gave me an error saying it had been unable to check referrals as below, grrr. I then tried to delete the SG but EMC told me it still contained a DB and therefore couldnt be deleted, well of course So, I gave it a while, forced AD replication, and even restarted IS - no change. So i turn to PS to see whats up. Currently a day later this is the situation; Server 1 - EMC shows the SG and DB - Powershell get-storagegroup and get-publicfolderdatabase dont show them Server 2 - same site EMC doesnt show either DB or SG, neither does PS Server 3 - Manchester - EMC shows both SG and DB, as does PS So as you can see all three servers disagree as to whats what in different ways, Arrrggghhh!!! If I try to remove the PFDB from Server 1 via EMC I get; -------------------------------------------------------- Microsoft Exchange Error -------------------------------------------------------- The public folder database 'PFDB' cannot be deleted. PFDB Failed Error: Exchange is unable to check the public folder replicas for "Gold\PFSG\PFDB". Verify the Microsoft Information Store service is running on Gold.corp.lgc-group.com, and that the database is properly mounted. MapiExceptionADNotFound: Unable to determine if the store has local replicas (hr=0x80004005, ec=2417) -------------------------------------------------------- I cant try and remove it from PS as according to that it doesnt exist. Having produced the above error the DB dissapears from the view in EMC for an indeterminate amouunt of time then eventually comes back. If I try to create another Public folder DB on Server 1 in another storage group it tells me that a PFDB already exists and I can only have 1... The path where the PFDB supposedly exists is completetly empty. In short exchanges info on what SG's and DB's exists seems to be more than a little messed up. Please if anyone can point me in the right direction troublshooting this I am pulling my hair out here... David
