Disconnect Issue between Exchange and Users Outlooks
Hi, I have an interesting problem. I will try to give some background on this issue. A few months ago we migrated from Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2007. Some time after this happened users began having problems where their outlook would randomly disconnect throughout the day. Occasionally, some peoples emails would reconnect after a few hours by itself. After doing some digging, we thought that it might have something to do with NetBIOS. So we tried this as a solution. Go into the advanced settings for TCP/IP and go to the WINS Tab, if the Enable NetBIOS over TCP/IP was not checked off, check it off, hit ok, Ok, close, close and then hit send and receive on the email. This would connect the Email, but it they would still get disconnected randomly. Going through the same steps, not even changing anything, would reconnect the email, which I thought was kind of weird. This issue does not occur to everyone. The users who have newer computers and Outlook 2007 don't ever get this problem, though they have to type in their password for the email every morning. But there are also some users who have Outlook 2003 who have never experienced this problem. On top of this, users who have experienced this problem, can sometimes go a few days without ever getting disconnected. I have also had to reformat one computer that had this problem, and even after reformatting it still had this issue show up. Has anyone experienced anything like this after migrating from exchange 03 to exchange 07 or have any ideas what might be going on? My apologies if this is in the wrong forum, I was not sure if it was an Exchange Issue or an Outlook Issue. Thanks, Chris

Have you run the Exchange Best Practises tool from the toolbox in the management console? If not, I would suggest you start with that. Latest network card drivers for your server? Simon. Simon Butler, Exchange MVP Blog | Exchange Resources
