Disable Lync 2013 Online and Local Outlook intergration

Hi,

We currently have a Lync Online subscription for our 60 staff members, which has been created under a separate domain to our local accounts.

Due to an issue with the Lync Basic client, we have upgraded everyone to the full Office 2013 suite so that we can use the Lync 2013 full client.

There are several features that don't work between the two systems (which is fine - I understand why) but the one feature that is working is the contact search within Lync. If I search for a workmate's name in Lync, it brings up two results. One is their Lync Online account, and the other is their local domain email. The problem is that users often don't know which is the correct contact to add in Lync, and the local accounts are basically useless in Lync as they will never come online.

Is there a way to stop Lync from searching Outlook for contacts? Keep in mind that I don't have access to the Lync server as it is an online subscription.

Thanks

Michael

Here is a solution:

1. o to Lync 2013 > Tools > Options > Personal > Personal Information Manager > None
2. Delete the Lync contacts folder in Outlook contacts (Try from OWA in case of issue)
3. Restart the Outlook and Lync.

Then, you would see the Lync folder in Outlook contact getting re-appeared. This would avoid the search result of duplicate entry. Thanks.

Hi Tony,

Thanks for looking at this issue.

I have switched the Personal Information Manager to None and restarted both Lync and Outlook (then my machine just to make sure).

I don't have a Lync Contacts folder in Outlook - it was never created possible because they are different email accounts.

Still have the same issue though.

Thanks

Michael

I think there might be no way to stop Lync 2013 from searching Outlook for contacts.

What's more, I have performing further test and got these:

1. Lync 2013 and Outlook 2013:

Set Lync 2013 > Tools > Options > Personal > Personal Information Manager > None. No Lync folder in Outlook.

Save a contact A from GAL to contact folder, and search A from Lync, returns two result A.

2. Lync 2010 and Outlook 2013:

Set Lync 2010 > Tools > Options > Personal > Personal Information Manager > None. No Lync folder in Outlook.

Save a contact A from GAL to contact folder, and search A from Lync, returns one result A.

Also got the same result in another machine...

Feel free to test it in your enviorment and let me know the result.

Hi there,

I tried to test the result in one more machine with Lync 2013. Set Lync 2013 > Tools > Options > Personal > Personal Information Manager > None and restart Outlook and Lync. The duplicate searching result of Lync contact is disappeared.

I think you may remove the repeated contacts in each Outlook contact folder and perform the steps above again to check if everything would be fine.Cheers,
