Different passwords for AD and Exchange mailbox?
Hi there I am using Exchange 2003 server and i want to assign different passwords for exchange mailbox and AD login which is window login password. For example: I have a user A who login in to windows using the password set in AD but when he login to Exchange mailbox he uses different password not the AD or window login one. Regards, Ibrahim

Hi This isn't possible. Exchange 2003 uses AD authentication and does not maintain a separate directory service (Exchange 5.5 was the last version that did this) so the password will always be the same. Cheers, Steve

Hi, This is not possible, Exchange uses the Active Directory user database, Exchange only assigns mailboxes to the AD users. Thanks and Regards, Mukesh. Instead, you can have two AD accounts for the user. Disable the AD account with mailbox and provide the other AD account full access to the mailbox.
