Difference between 'Update' and 'Online Repair'?

I'm having problems updating from the cdn in my domain.

Error 30088-28.

I'm pretty sure its a network issue.

However, I just performed an online repair on the same machine, and it worked perfectly.

Whats the difference? Are the files coming from the same location? How to start troubleshooting?

Also - anyway to disable online repair?

Hi,

My understanding is that you want to update Office 365 and it was failed, but you can run online repair at the same pc.

Am I right? If yes, you may get the error like this:

Something went Wrong: Were sorry, we ran into a problem while downloading updates for Office. Please check your network connection and try again later. Error Code: 30088-28 or 30088-27

Firstly, we may check the Office 365 URLs and IP address ranges that you have added. I suppose "update" and "online repair" might use different server.

The following article can help you with determining the IP address and URL exceptions you might need to add: http://technet.microsoft.com/library/hh373144.aspx

Secondly, try the following:

Open the command prompt (run as administrator), and use the following command to import the manual proxy settings from IE:

netsh winhttp import proxy source=ie

Now rerun the install/update

To reset winhttp back, run the following command:

netsh winhttp reset proxy

Hope it's helpful.
