Diference between Forward to on mailbox and a transport rule
HI all, If i make a transport rule to send a copy of an email to another user's mailbox those emails will be forwarded even if the oroginal recipient mailbox is full. If I set on the recipient mailbox forward another email address the mail will be also forwared to that email address, even if the orginal recipient mail box is full, it doesnt matter if i check to deliver to both forwarding email address and the mailbox. Is this correct? Tnx all!

Forwarding set at the server level occurs before the delivery of the message. Therefore if you have set a forward on a transport rule or on the account then it will take place no matter what the state of the original destination. The only time that a forward would fail if the original mailbox was full would be using a mailbox rule forward - because that requires delivery of the message first. Therefore the behaviour you are seeing is correct. Simon.Simon Butler, Exchange MVP. http://blog.sembee.co.uk , http://exbpa.com/

If you set to forward to an alternate mailbox and if the alternate mailbox is full, then the message sender will get an NDR. Jim McBee - Blog - http://mostlyexchange.blogspot.com

Thx, but if the original mailbox is full, and the forwarding isnt, the sender will get a NDR for the original mailbox if i mark to keep a copy of the message? Tnx
