Determining amount/size of duplicate messages across all mailbox stores
Hello All,I have been asked if there is a way to determine how many "duplicate" messages are within our 160GB Information Store. We have 4 storage groups with 4 mailbox stores in each. So if HR send out a 1 MB message company wide then this one message is consuming 16 MB out of my 160 GB Information Store. Is there a mailbox manager query that I could run on all mailbox stores to get an accurate size total of how much space these messages consume? A gentleman at msexchange.org stated I could do this with Exmerge..I would prefer to do this with a mailbox manager policy. Thanks in advance.

I do not know of anyway you could do this with ExMerge or any other tool. The messages table in the database are buried so deep in the ESE database that only a Microsoft developer can probably pull that information out. If you are like me, you probably hate telling your boss or people in your food chain that you don't know, but there are just some things that are not technically feasible for us mere mortals.
