Deployment tool prompts for internet connection. Can Office365 be installed from local server?

Attempting to use the Office365 Deployment tool to install offline. I have successfully downloaded the files, but when I run the /configure command, I receive error code 30088-1015 and it asks if my internet connection is working.

Is there a way to install Office365 without having to download every time we do an install?

I am not certain I see the utility in downloading the same 3gb of files over and over and over and over and over again on the corporate network.  I know Microsoft thinks it's a good thing to go to the cloud every time,  but for some of us, bandwidth is not an infinite resource.

Thanks.

Hi Doug.oGriffin,

Based on your description, you wonder to de deploy Office 365 from local server but without connect to Internet.

There are two basic ways that you can deploy Office 365 in your organization:

  1. Have users install Office 365 directly from the Office 365 portal.
  2. Download the Office 365 software to your local network and then deploy it to your users.

I suggest you read this article and get more information about deploy Office 365.

Yes Doug you can install offline without downloading the files each time from the internet.

Use the Office deployment tool to extract the binaries from Office 365 (approx 1.1 gb) and store these on your local file server and share it e.g   \\server1\Office365

Then you need to edit the configuration.xml file in this folder and make sure it looks like this:

<Configuration>

  <Add SourcePath=\\ server1\Office365 OfficeClientEdition="32" >
    <Product ID="O365ProPlusRetail">
      <Language ID="en-us" />
    </Product>

Then to install on your client,  from a command line run setup.exe /configure configuaration.xml   (ensure you are open your command line from the same folder your files are stored)

Hope this helps
