Deploy all O365 ProPlus software in image...

Hi,

We plan to jump to O365 Pro plus (Faculty license) in the near future.  At the same time all staff will receive new computers.  We would like to pre-install O2013, Lync 2013, SkyDrive Pro and whatever is required via MDT / WDS to each computer so everything is as ready as possible when the user logs on the new computer for the first time.

Where do we find installer packages for all this software and what is actually required to have this play together without yelling about product keys etc..?  Or - do we simply have to resign and let the users do it the hard way by downloading and installing themselves?

Thanks for comments and links :-)

Hi again

Does the lack of comments here mean that there is no way to pre-install Office 2013 so each user doesn't need to manually initiate download and installation to their own computer?

I just wanted to know if we could preinstall it without having issues with its product key.

Hi,

O365ProPlus can be pre-installed, without the need for product keys.

Depending upon your identity strategy, you can require your users to enter their Microsoft onlineservices (O365 tenant identity), or you can implement DirSync or ADFS which would leverage your existing on-premises identity store, in varying degrees.

Hi,

Thanks a lot, Don!

However, *where* do I find the installer files for the correct edition of O365ProPlus?  I assume that I cannot use the Trial version available online.   Or do I have to purchase an installer?  I assume this is neither the OEM nor MAK edition so I'm at a loss here.

Thanks for comments or links :-)

O365ProPlus is a specific edition of Office, it's not available via OEM, and MAK/KMS does not apply since O365 is subscription-based only.

The ODT (Office Deployment Tool) is the downloadable tool, used for downloading the O365 (and other) source files.

O365ProPlus is packaged in Click-To-Run format (aka C2R) which is an extended form of App-V.

It uses a large binary blob/stream to deploy a virtualized installation package, it doesn't use traditional MSI/installer methods.

The links, and documentation, for ODT, are in the link I gave you above :)

The ODT, and stream/source ODT pulls down for you, is all available publically, there's no need to purchase that.

The licensing is all determined/controlled by the login/identity you input *after* installation, when you launch an Office application. That's the point where your entitlement/subscription is validated. Which is where your identity strategy either works, or screams *FAIL*FAIL*FAIL* at you ;)
