Demoting an Exchnage server from DC to Member server
Hi Team,I am facing a wired problem i have three DC with windows server 2003,DC1 which holds the FSMO roles DC2 which holds the Exchnage server and DC3 a front End server ,Currently i am facing prolem with replication ,i recently created a store groupin Exchnage server which is not getting replicated to DC1,and i got suggestion from many of my friends that demoting the exchnage server from DC to member server should resolve the issue. Is this safe to do ,and i have read an article in Microsoft which clearly says never demote exchnage server from DC to member server or Member server to DC here is the article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822179Can any one help me out what should i do now to make this replication work and demote my exchnage server to members server and i have exchange database of around 450GB

Hi Adolf, Regarding AD replication issue, I suggest you post your question to Windows Server forum to get further support: http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/winserverDS/threads Regarding demote a DC which has Exchange installed, as you already know, it is not a recommended method. Nevertheless, I think that you could create a new Exchange Server and move mailbox to new Exchange Server and then uninstall the Exchange Server. If it is the first Exchange installed, please refer to following KB: How to remove the first Exchange Server 2003 computer from the administrative group http://support.microsoft.com/kb/822931/en-us ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mike Shen TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
