What version of Exchange do you have? Try enabling protocol logging to get more details on the SMTP transaction (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124531%28EXCHG.80%29.aspx). Our the delays always to the same external domain or multiple? Is your servers IP on any blacklists where other servers maybe blocking or throttling you? I noticed that this problem happens only when send from inside the company wherase from outlook or webmail .. but when we send a message from outside the company everything OK. for this reason I think there is no problem via firwall. And the send and recive is working all but sometime some I have the delayed messag. same sender same receiver sometimes is working and other time NOT this thing is very strange !!!!!! any idea ????
