Deleted user still in distribution group
When I remove someone from exchange and active directory, their name still remains on the distribution list. Is this a bug or what do I need to do to make sure it is removed. We are on Exchange 2007 SP1, Windows 2003 R2.

Places to check:Outlook configured in cached mode? - check if it can download the lastest OAB.Check if OAB generation is fine.See if you experience the same issue when OL is online mode or using OWA.Open ADSIEDIT and check if the users appear there.See if all domain controllers are replicating fine, and they do not have any errors related to directory replication.MMilind Naphade

I have run into this a lot. The distribution list will still hold the user that has been deleted if they are not deleted from the dl first. We run a script that removes all group memberships if the user is in a specific OU ie, terminations. We also have a script that runs that removes the mailboxes for the users in that OU as well. (I am thinking about modifying it so that it creates a PST of the mailbox prior to removing it, so we can do legal discoveries, etc easier without having to re-create the mailbox from backup, etc)It works pretty slick. It also makes sure that the AD accounts are disabled. Then after a set number of days, the AD account is then deleted.

Hi, I think that it is an AD issue rather than an Exchange related issue. I suggest you post your question in the Microsoft Public Newsgroup for Windows Servers which would be the most relevant resource for your question. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windowsserver/bb841405.aspx Mike
