Deleted items not flushing from users mailbox as per the rule in exchnage server 2007
I am having Exchange 2007 CCR cluster. My mailbox settings for Deleted items is 14 days and some user I had givne it 10 days. The fcat is that none of these rules are working and I can see 1000s of mail in deleted item folder for most of the users. Is there any other setting which overrides this settings for deleted items.

How could you find that there were 1000s of mails in deleted items folder. If you are talking about the settings "Keep Deleted Items for (days)" then it refers to the retention period for Recover Deleted Items (dumpster), its not the Deleted Items folder that you see in user's mailbox

If your online maintenance is being interrupted by backups (for example) it may be that the store is neve getting a chance to expire those items. Try setting the mainenance schedule for the databases so that it make a complete pass through each database at least once every few days. If you have to, schedule it to run all day on non-business days. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Rajitha If that one is for retention period then where I can find the settings for the days to keep the deleted item folder in user's mailbox. I told 1000s of mail after checking the user's outlook mails.

You should consider using Managed folders for that. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb310756(v=exchg.80)

I think this link is already disabled as nothing I can found out there. Even I reach to the document to give the setting , I need to explain here and get confirmation from you people. Select DELETED ITEMS from the Managed default folder. Right Click to select 'New Managed Contect Settings' In the new windows .. Give a new name for the setting and Message Type as 'All Mailbox Content' Length of Retention Period 15 days Retention Period Starts : When item moved to the folder Action to taken at the end of the retention period : Permanently Delete. I bilieve this will do the task. My concern is it will affect only the items in Deleted items. Waiting for your valuable response
