Deleted item, 'empty folder' error

Hello. I have a new Exchange 2010 server with mailboxes migrated from 2003. The client is Outlook 2013. When a user right-clicks their 'Deleted Items' folder, chooses 'Empty Folder', and acknowledges the warning, the following error appears:

It doesn't matter if I wait or press Send and Receive. The status bar shows the client is connected to Exchange and all folders are in sync. The user can select all the messages in the Deleted Items folder and delete them manually. Setting Outlook to empty deleted items when it's closed fails with the same message. Thanks in advance for your help.

Could you detail the version of Outlook 2013? As far as know, Outlook 15.0.4536.1000 is presenting a problem when trying to empty the deleted items folder and it has been fixed in current version.

Please install the lastest update of Outlook to check the result. Thanks.

Hi,

I had the same error, like in the first comment, just version differences: win 8.1, Outlook pro 2013, version 15.0.4615.1000. Solution was to log on on OWA, make the empty deleted folders. And after Outlook syncronized and deleted folders was empty.

Solution found on: https://community.office365.com/en-us/f/158/t/175498.aspx, even if it was not conencted to Office365 for me.

Hope will solve your issue too.

Regards, Gyz

I have the same issue and logged into OWA and if I try to delete the folder, OWA just freezes, can't do a thing with it other than close the browser.

Outlook is up to date also.

I have also tried closing my archive and moving it, that doesn't help either.
