Deleted emails
I have a client with exchange 2003 and Outlook 2007. They do not have a backup of the exchange database. A user deleted all of there sent mail and then emptied the deleted items. 60 days later they want them back... Is there a method to reload the exchange log files into the existing databse to recover the deleted items?

No, its not really possible. The logs are really there forother recovery purposes and reflect what has already been committed to the database. If there is no backup or another copy of the database, you wont be able to retrieve those emails unless you have deleted item retention set to a value above the 60 days ( the default is 30) or you have the option checked for that store to not permanently delete items until a full backup has completed. You can see where those options are for the store from reading this article:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa997129.aspxOther option to retrieve those old messages would be if they were copied to archive pstor if they happened to have another Outlook cached profile that hasnt been access since before those items were deleted.

Hi, As Andy mentioned, you cant reload the log files into the current database. As an Exchange admin, periodically backup database is a critical daily job. related resource: Exchange 2003 Disaster Recovery Operations Guidehttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125070(EXCHG.65).aspx Thanks, Elvis
