Deleted Exchange 2003 OAB then ran 2013 /ADPREP Now client issues

(I am 50% on Exchange 2013, 50% on Exchange 2010)

History...

I was debugging an issue with Contacts in a Exchange 2010 public folder (when accessed from 2013) and got an error in the OL client, despite Exfolders reporting the correct quantity of items in the folder.

My resolution was to "upgrade" the 2013" Offline Address Book by deleting and recreating it.  Prior to doing this I had to edit the ADSIEdit Configuration and enable "inherit permissions" for Exchange 2013 setup to continue.

I inherited permissions, and Exchange 2013 setup /adprep could continue and create offline address books for my OL2007 clients.

Issue

My issue is that clients with mailboxes on Exchange 2013 (haven't tested 2010) are getting prompted for credentials.  When I press "cancel" and launch an RPCDIAG, then I see that it's the "Exchange Directory Service" in OL2013 that isn't working correctly.

If I were to run a Get-OutlookProvider, I would get NONE for the EXCH service, and RPC/TCP would be checked for both fast and slow networks.

Hi,

Please check your OAB configuration in Exchange 2013:

Get-OabVirtualDirectory | FL Identity,name,*URL*,*auth*

Get-OfflineAddressBook | fl Identity,Name,Server,IsDefault,virtualdirectories,*Distribution*

Please make sure the OAB in Exchange 2013 is set as default for all databases, for example:

Get-MailboxDatabase | Set-MailboxDatabase -OfflineAddressBook "\Default Offline Address Book (Ex2013)"
