Deleted Contacts Keep Coming Back
Hello, I am having a strange issue with a user and can't really figure out why it would be happening. Here is setup; exchange 2007 with a windows 7 client machine running outlook 2007. The user has over 50,000 contacts in his list primarily because 2 contacts keep replicating themselves and are in there 29000 and 20000 times (obviously something isn't right) so I deleted them out of the list and they started coming back slowly and within a 24 hours it was back to 50,000 again. So I deleted EVERYTHING in the contacts folder (after backing up the folder in a pst) then I opened the pst and deleted the duplicate entries and imported the contacts back in to the user's mailbox and less than 12 hours later those 2 contacts are coming back again! Not sure what is going on here but I'd certainly like to find out. Thanks

Do the user use iPhone for his exchange email and sync his contact ?

Delete all the contacts directly on the server. User powershell from a 32bit client and use the export-mailbox command with deletecontent flag and specify the contacts folder.

If they're using BES, disable that, too. --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP --- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Thanks for the responses, I was tied up with a VOIP deployment so didn't have a chance to test everything but here is where I am now, This particular user had an iphone, ipad and macbook synching to his mailbox, for now I have taken the exchange active sync accounts off of all these devices. I am deleting the contacts again to see if this helps, will post updates from the results.

The problem ended up being with the Card Scan software that was installed on this machine (it was replicating certain contacts over and over), removing the cardscan addressbook from outlook account settings resolved the issue. Shah
