Delete a Public Folder Store with Replicas - error id c0072afc
Hello All I want to delete a public folder store and the public folder tree that is attached to it. I'm using SBS 2003 with Exchange 2003 and all the service packs and latest updates, hotfixes, ect. are installed. when I try to delete the public folder store i get the error that it contains public folder replicas and it cannot be deleted. i can't move the replicas since i only have one server on the network. when i go to public folder instances i see there contents in the folder exchangeV1 (361kb). when i right click it and choose "all tasks --> remove replica" i get the error id c0072afc followed by the message: "the requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found". it happenes to any other folder in the public folder instances folder also... i have an additional public folder store that i'm using, which is active and works great. the one that i'm trying to delete is not the default one, i think...since i created it after the active one was in place... how can make sure? does it make any difference? in short, how can i delete the public folder and the associated public folder tree (it's a different tree than the default one, of course) thanks a lot, Omer Barel

Clarify: You have multi-public trees associated with stores in a same server, you want to delete one non-MAPI public folder tree, right? Explanation: MAPI tree is the one created by default in the first admin group. Any additional trees you created called Non-MAPI tree. Theres only one MAPI tree Error: c0072afc Troubleshooting: 1. Check ncacn_ip_tcp value on the networkAddress attribute a. Open ADSIEdit b. Expand Configuration Container --> Configuration --> Services --> Microsoft Exchange --> Organization_Name --> Administrative Groups --> <Adminsitrative_Group_Name> --> Servers --> <Server Name> c. Right Click <Server Name> and click Properties. d. Click networkaddress in the Attributes list, and then click Edit. e. Check the value for ncacn_ip_tcp if it has properly FQDN of the server of public store f. Change the name if it dont have and restart all Exchange related services 2. Go to TCP/IP bindings for the network interface on the server and confirmed Register this connections addresses in DNS was enabled 3. Go to DNS manager, see if theres A record for server Collect info: please give the actual word of error, and also check if theres error in the application log Resources: Please review Troubleshooting Replica Deletion section in the Public Folder Replication Troubleshooting RPC binding does not match DNS resolved name

Hello James. I checked all the issues you've mentioned. everything was ok except the A record. i've added the a record and restarted the server. now i'm getting the following error: "the ssl certificate server name is incorrect. ID no: c103b404. Exchange system manager" i didn't find any additional errors in the event log. i went through the microsoft kb article 324345, but i don't want to mess around with the ssl if i don't have to. i just want to delete the public folder, and i'm thinking that there might be a way to work around it. is there? to i really need to configure the iis just in order to delete the public folder store? thanks.

You receive error code c103b404 when you want to access public folders in ESM, right? I suggest you to follow the steps in KB 324345 1. Check if situations which list in KBs Cause section happen on your environment. Do you have FQDN of server on certificate? 2. You may try to add FQDN of server and its IP address to host file, see if it can work around 3. Try to uncheck SSL in ExAdmin Virtual Directory based on KB, and restart ESM. See if issue persists 4. If the issue still shows, uninstall certificate temporarily from default website folder and check the issue again then reassign certificate
