Delete Mails in Submission Queue on Exchange 2007 server
Hi All, I see some huge emails stuck in the submission queue of my hub transport server. In the Queue viewer, it is not giving me option to remove/delete the huge message. i found an article http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123535(EXCHG.80).aspx in which it is mentioned that we cannot remove messages from Submission queue. Is there a way to delete messages from submission queue using powershell or ay other method..Please suggest.

Hello Sterling_hari, You cannot Suspend the Submission queue or delete the emails from Submission queue. Please stop the Transport service on the Hub server and then go to the location where exchange is installed. Please try to Rename the complete DATA folder on HUB server. It may be possible that the Queue & IPFilter folder under Data folder was corrupt. After renaming the Data folder on the HUB server. Then restart the Transport service. It will fix the problem.MicroSoft Exchange Admin. & Connector EXCHANGE2010, MCSE, MCTS, MCSA MESSAGING, CCNA & GNIIT

Is the problem that they are destined to some address that doesn't exist? I've seen that before and they just kept getting stuck in submission instead of going undeliverable. You can try assigning the SMTP address to some other mailbox (like your own) and let them just be delivered. Worked for me .

Hi All, There is a big mail stuck (60MB) in the submission queue and was causing the other mails to be processed very slowly in the submission queue. I want to know if there is way to delete mails in the submission queue without renaming the data folder.

Hello Sterling_Hari, 1) Please follow the above steps provided by me to fix the mail flow. Or 2) check the queue for big mail stuck (60MB) in the submission queue and look for Sender and then deleted that email from Sent item Or Draft folder of that user. There is no option other then these 2 step to fix your issue. Restart the Transport & mail Submission service on the server It will fix the issue. Are you still having problems? If not , step back and reevaluate your global send and receive limits. Also ensure you have applied the latest service packs to both Exchange and Outlook if a message larger than your allowed size was sent by a client.
