Hi, Actually I want to give permissions to some user so that he can add members to distribution list. What i have done --> Added to the user to "Managed by" field and click on the checkbox named "Manager can update Membership list" Is it sufficient. In case its not sufficient I tried to use the following command --> [PS] C:\Windows\System32>Add-ADPermission -Identity xyz -User abcd -AccessRights writeproperty -Properties member Is it correct. But still I am getting the error that you dont have the permission. Does I have to wait for 2-3 hours so that the permissions are inherited as in case with send as permissions. Thanks.

Do you have morethan one AD domain? Are there GCs from different domains in the sameAD site?Does the user appear in the ACL of the group with the correctpermission?---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP--- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

You didn't answer one of the important questions! Are there GCs formore than one domain in the same AD site? The problem comes down to which GC Outlook is using. If it's using aGC in a domain that doesn't have both the user and the group in itthen the GC won't have a writable copy of the data.gistries of allthe Outlook clients to specify a specific DC/GC for them to use.To see what GC the client is using you can't be using cached-mode.Once you're out of cached mode have them open the Address Book, selectthe "Global Address List" in the drop-down list box, and thenright-click the "Global Address List" in that drop-down list box andclick on "Properties". Is the GC they're using in the same domain astheir AD user account and is the group in that same domain?---Rich MatheisenMCSE+I, Exchange MVP--- Rich Matheisen MCSE+I, Exchange MVP

Hi, Yes it seems to be intresting. Actually we have one forest and 2 domains. Now both domains have there own GC servers. We have installed our exchange when we have only one domain. We added our second domain later and the users and groups are lying in that domain. We are now in process to migrate all the users to newly created domain. And thats why we are now creating all the domains in that domain. I will follow your steps and see whether it helps. Thanks.

Thanks. from multiple domainsbeing used by the Outlook clients from different domains it reallywon't help to move the users anywhere. The issue really isn't an Exchange problem, though. Hi, Rich actually I followed your steps now and identified the server. Based on which I created new user and new DL. But still I am getting same problem. When I check the security tab I am able to find that the user has Write Member rights on that particular DL. Get-Adpermission command also shows the same results. Now what to do. Thanks.

Hi, Please right click the Outlook icon and click Connection Status. Would you please let me know whether the Outlook connects to GC which reside in the secondary domain (which the user and Distribution Group reside in)? If the Outlook connects to GC in the first domain which the Exchange Server reside in, I suggest you refer to following article to force the Outlook connects to GC in the secondary domain and check whether the issue persists: How to configure Outlook to a specific global catalog server or to the closest global catalog server http://support.microsoft.com/kb/319206/en-us If the Outlook connects to GC in the secondary domain, I suggest you create new user and configure the user has permission to update Membership list for the Distribution List. Please check whether the issue can still be reproduced. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mike Shen TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
