Hi folks so I've got users that don't have a personal mailbox but that do need access to a shared mailbox over OWA.

I was hoping I could add these users to the 'Full Control' group for the relevant shared mailbox, they could log into OWA and and voila there it is but nope I get 'something went wrong' instead.

I've tried searching but this topic doesn't seem to be addressed elsewhere. Can you tell me whether it's possible and if so how do I configure it?

Try specifying the UPN of the shared mailbox within the URL like this;
http://mail.yourcompany.com/owa/test@yourcompany.com

First of all, check the permissions on the shared mailbox for the 'Full Control' group.

Get-MailboxPermission <SharedMailbox> |? {($_.IsInherited -eq $false) -and -not ($_.User -like NT AUTHORITY\SELF)} | FL User,AccessRights

Then try the URL that Roady suggested.
