Decommisioned Exchange Server (Moved to BPOS) now getting Event: 10009 Errors!
The server is no longer available and as a result our PDC is still looking for it. I am wondering what I need to do to remove it from the DCOM config safely and stop these errors from cluttering our log files. Please let me know if there is any more information needed to help with this issue. Thank you!

I didn't remove the box myself. However the way it looks, it was migrated to BPOS then powered off. Eventually it was just turned into what is now our PDC by formatting and reinstalling as win2k8 r2.

Hi Craig, Which version of Exchange server did you run ago? The only supported ways to remove Exchange 2007 or Exchange 2010 are to use Add or Remove Programs. Maybe you have to recover the Exchange server then remove it ago. How to Recover a Lost Exchange Server http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb123496(EXCHG.80).aspx Suggest you also post the full error event ID here. Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. The Exchange server is long gone. I believe it was 2007 we were running at the time. We had a box dedicated to running exchange. Are you saying I need to rebuild a box recover the exhange then remove it again? It would seem like I could just reconfigure a DCOM setting and make it stop looking for exchg02.

Suggest you also post the full error event ID here. Event ID: 10009 DCOM was unable to communicate with the computer exchg02.sheppardmotors.dom using any of the configured protocols. There are no other Errors that are falling around the same time as this one either.
