Dead Exchange 2007 server still shows up in EMC
I had an Exchange 2K7 STD server fail in a site. The server still shows up in the EMC. It has been removed from the AD. How do I go about manually removing it from the Exchange Site and EMC?

If you could fire up a spare server or VM with the same name as teh old server, run exchange setup.exe /M:recoverserver, then do a clean uninstall, that would be the cleanest route. Otherwise, you can go into the configuration container of AD through adsiedit and remove it.

you could manually remove it via ADSI editor, the exchange configuration data is stored in DC's configuration partition.

When you have opened ADSI Edit, navigate to: Configuration > Services > Microsoft Exchange> Administrative Groups > Exchange Administrative Group (FYDIBOHF23SPDLT) > Servers ...and delete the object with the respective server name. NoteRemember to always take a full backup of the System State before you delete stuff from the AD using ADSI Edit.
