Database size is approaching the size limit of 75 GB
Hello support, Exchange 2003 SP2. We are getting an Event ID: 9688 because the .edb and the .stm is 70GB. I've read that 75gb is an license limit, when reached the Mailbox Store while be dismounted. Is there a way to change the size limit of 75GB? Possible solutions: 1. AutoArchive and offline defragmentation 2. upgrade to Exchange 2007 so I can create 5 databases. Are there any other options? Kind regards. Kind regards.

No, create a Recipient Policy in the Exchange System Manager: Start System Manager > Recipients. Right Click Recipient Policies/ Click New >Recipient Policy. Click the box for Mailbox Manager Settings. Name it on the General Tab. Then on Mailbox manager tab, select the folders, Age and size you want to apply it to. Change the drop down to Delete immediately or whatever you want. After you configure and save the policy, you schedule it to run by right clicking the server under the Storarge Group and going to properites. Click Mailbox Management. Set the time of when you want it to run. I recommend under reporting to send to the administrator and set yourself as the administrator. It will show you how much was freed per mailbox and overall. Thank you.Kind regards.

Didn't no the eseutil /ms switch. Only did not get the event id 1221 in the eventviewer, but in the CLI after the eseutil /ms was finished, the number 25072 is shown. Can you tell me how much freespace this is? Is this in KB? Kind regards.

Only did not get the event id 1221 in the eventviewer, Hi ZX7R, Please check whether the online defragmentation is performed or not. Cannot determine free space available in Exchange database http://support.microsoft.com/kb/186291 About the eseutil /ms, please see: Determining the True Amount of Space in an Exchange Database http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa996139(EXCHG.65).aspx Frank Wang TechNet Subscriber Support in forum If you have any feedback on our support, please contact tngfb@microsoft.com Please remember to click Mark as Answer on the post that helps you, and to click Unmark as Answer if a marked post does not actually answer your question. Try setting a lab on Exchange 2003 first. Create two storage groups and place a DB on each. Don't know if licensing would prevent you from doing this. Besides, Exchange 2007 has better features. So I think it's time to upgrade.

If you cannot create two DBs into that storage group, then you don't have any option but upgrade to Exchange 2007.
