Database Storage / Groups
Environment - windows 2008 sp2 running exchange 2007 sp2. We currently have LCR enabled, but the question of do we really need it? LCR is currently replicating to a MSA500 raid 5. Thought is to move the actual databases to the MSA500 so we would have more storage space, which raised the question of the LCR. Do we need it running? Could we LCR to another machine? Could the databases become corrupt when one or the other machine reboots, assuming we moved the LCR to another machine? We have an unattended reboot of all machines weekly. Thanks in advance

Hi,Please understand that LCR is local cluster replication. Local continuous replication (LCR) is a single-server solution that uses built-in asynchronous log shipping and log replay technology to create and maintain a copy of a storage group on a second set of disks that are connected to the same server as the production storage group. The production storage group is referred to as theactive copy, and the copy of the storage group maintained on the separate set of disks is referred to as thepassive copy.Local Continuous Replicationhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb125195(EXCHG.80).aspxHigh Availabilityhttp://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb124721(EXCHG.80).aspxRegards,Xiu

Ok, so LCR to another machine can not be done. So i have a MSA500 raid 5, would that be enough should a problem arise? Or is this one of those stupid questions which can be answered by saying "the more backups you have the safer you are"?
