Data shifted to another folder and access denied to that folder after a system recovery done on winxp home edition
I did a system recovery on my preloaded laptop which came with winxp home edition. The step ensured that my data would not be deleted or changed, not once I was informed otherwise. I went ahead with the recovery and now I find that data in My Documents folder has been shifted to a folder named XP and the access to it is denied. I have not put any password , so I dont know how to access it. I tried logging as administrator from safe mode, still access is denied. All my data is in this folder, as when I de-fragmented this drive, the report, says that data is there in this folder. The data is very important to me, my other data which was in another folder( not in my documents) has not been affected. Pls pls pls help me out. I seriously would be devastated if I lose my data as it would lead to serious financial losses to me. Since the on screen instructions guided me through the process and at no point it mentioned such problem, how am I suppose to know that I would face such issues? Microsoft has informed me of something which has resulted in my data being restricted to my usage, who is responsible? Now when I call up Microsoft customer care guys, they say they cant help me. What am i supposed to do? I have used a genuine Microsoft product, still no assistance for me?? Whats the difference between users who use a pirated version and who use a original version ? If they have some sort of similar trouble, at least they wont feel stupid to pay such high amount which I shelled out to buy the original version.

Hi Customer Everything will be well. Don’t be so excited. It is only about the permission of folder. I can’t explain it in this forum. You can visit http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/itproxpsp/threads They can teach you how to do it step by step.
