DR failover

Hi All,

my current Exchange 2013 setup is as below

Production

1. CAS array on VIP

2. 2 Mailbox servers

3. 2 Edge servers

DR

1. CAS array onVIP

2. 2 Mailbox servers on DAG

3. 2 Edge

i want to do a DR fail over test. below are the steps i have followed

1. CAS VIP change on DNS

2. Auto discovery IP change on DNS

3. Shut down 2 CAS servres

4. Shut Down 2 Mailbox servers

unfortunately users are not able to connect to DR site and i couldnt open the ECP site from DR ( login prompt comes but after authentication it blank)

on the DR Exchange OWA virtual directories Internal directory URL is not the same as production.

when i see the outlook connection status, i can see clients are trying to connect to production mailbox servers.

how can i do a successful fail over?

If you don't have geo load balancing, you can change DNS for Autodiscover, owa, CAS, whatever names you've assigned to the DR servers.

Hi,

Which outlook version are you used? Please try to repair Outlook profile to test.
Please run Test E-mail AutoConfiguration and Outlook connection Status to ensure get the collect URL for Exchange services and Exchange server, also run use Microsoft Remote Connectivity Analyzer(https://testconnectivity.microsoft.com/) to test the connectivity for RPC over HTTP.
I find an article about RPC Client Access Cross-Site Connectivity Changes(however it related to Exchange 2010), for your reference:

Thanks

Hi ,

Based on my knowledge i have given some points please have a look .Same time i would like to clarify few things from your side .

What about the database status on the DR site mailbox server ? please use the below mentioned command.

Get-MailboxDatabaseCopyStatus * | ft -au

Since we have only two active directory sites .So we need to have a manual data center fail over by using the below mentioned article.

Reference Link :

https://smtpport25.wordpress.com/2010/12/10/exchange-2010-dag-local-and-site-drfailover-and-fail-back/

In case if we have third site the we can have the automatic failover by placing the witness share on the third site.

Though the above article is for exchange 2010 but it suits for exchange 2013 too.

Note : I hope in your case you have your witness share on the production site .

Hi All,
