DLP theory question

Hello!

This article-  http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/jj150512%28v=exchg.150%29.aspx says:

The transport rule agent that enforces DLP policies does not differentiate between email message attachments, body text, or subject lines while evaluating messages and the conditions within your policies.

1)When I create my own template - for instance, the docx file containing the following lines:
------------------------------------
Credit cards

Card:        Number:
------------------------------------

...and try to send a message with an attachment -.docx file (Cards-DEPARTMENT HR.docx) that contains these words:
---------------------------------------------------
Credit cards

Card:  4566      Number: 5654-3456-6543-1234)
---------------------------------------------------

 - DLP works as expected:

2) When I use the same wording in the message body DLP does not trigger:

Why?

Thank you in advance,

Michael

Hi MF47,

According to your description, it seems that you are using document fingerprints to protect form data, not policy tips.

You can try to create a notify-only Policy Tip and check the result.

Manage policy tips

Hi Niko.Cheng,

Please excuse me - I didn't understand you: by definition document fingerprints help protect from sending any sensitive information and this help may be in the form of tips or in the form of explicit restriction - it's up to an administrator to choose one or another. I don't see how it can affect the results.

Regards,

Michael
